Treatment of Endometriosis using Nd : Yag Laser

Abstract
Endometriosis is one of the most prevalent gynecologic disorders in our population, and it has been traditionally associated with infertility.
The damage that it can produce in genital tract is quite variable and, although it has never verified, the assumption is that the more extensive the disease is the lower pregnancy rate.
Most clinicians curently agree that stage I and II pelvic endometriosis, as determined by the American Fertility Society Classification is been treated with danazol when there are no significant peritubal or periovarian adhesions.
This therapy¢¥ offers excellent pregnancy rates `and avoids the risk of pelvic adhesions, which can occur after conservative laparotomy.
However, the significant disadvantage of danazol include androgenic side effects, break through bleeding, prolonged treatment time, high cost.
An ideal form of therapy avoid these disadvantage and be accessible at diagnostic laparoscopy when the disease is detected.
We have worked with such a treatment, the Nd : Yag Laser for one year.
With the Nd : Yag Laser, we treated 12 patients who had endometriosis at the time of original diagnostic laparoscopy and were followed by eight pregnancies. There is little danger of damaging adjacent structures.
